A loss lands heavier than a win of the same size. That weight is a sensation moving through the body, and it is workable. Move through these five, slowly, one at a time.
Bring to mind a recent loss. Let the memory land, and notice where it shows up in the body. Tap every place you feel it.
Name the sensation itself, without the story.
Now recall a win of about the same size. Notice: the loss is usually louder, heavier, and it stays longer. That gap is the whole thing. It is a sensation, not a verdict on you.
The same dollar amount, a win and a loss. Bring each one to mind, and notice how your body holds it. Press the side that sits heavier for you, or leave it level if they feel the same.
Equal on paper. What is true for you may differ. Notice, without deciding in advance.
A stop is a seatbelt. You fasten it before you drive, calm and ahead of time. It is not a prediction of a crash. It is simply how you protect yourself before you move. Buckle it, then breathe it in.
You set the stop before the pressure arrives.
The nervous system learns in rehearsal. Four rounds.
The stop did its work. The trade is closed and the number is fixed. What is left is the part most traders skip: letting the loss be finished, so it stays in that trade instead of following you into the next one.
Take a breath and notice, right now: where are you still holding it?
A few to sit with, in your journal or here.
What am I telling myself about this loss, and about myself?
Is the number the whole story, or have I made it mean more?
Set beside the real losses I have known in my life, does this one weigh the same?
What do I need in order to let this closed loss be finished?
A loss is information and a cost of doing this work. It is not a verdict on you. Take one long exhale, and let this trade be closed. The next one deserves a clear pair of eyes.
You closed the day green. Before you move on, let it arrive. Bring the win to mind and let yourself actually feel it, the way you would let good news settle.
Where does the gain land when you let it in?
Say it in your own words.
A few to sit with, in your journal or here.
Where in my mind and body do I feel satisfied with what today gave me?
What did I do well today that I want to keep doing?
Where did I let myself feel good about the win, and where did I rush past it?
What would it look like to trust that more is available to me?
Take one long exhale, and let the win be yours. Receiving is its own practice, and a whole Wednesday of its own. For now, simply let it stay.
You are the anchor.
Everything else is the trade.
